In October of 2025, our Bishop, Sandra Steiner Ball, launched the Recapture Project. Its purpose is to focus on capturing and retelling the mission and ministry stories of our local churches and surrounding communities, as well as re-establishing connections, building relationships and capturing additional information about the lay leadership and lay ministries within our local churches. Reverend Barry
Ball, the Bishop’s husband, will be coming to talk and listen to Lakewood UMC on Thursday April 9 th at 7:00 p.m. Please try to attend. This fits in well with Lakewood’s vision of reconnection with our neighborhood and the growth of our current ministries.
Please join us on Monday April 13 th from 6:00-7:00 in the Lakewood Prayer Chapel (off the sanctuary). This prayer hour has a new format which will include a weekly focus and special prayer intention. Monday April 13th the focus will be Gratitude and the special intention is for those who have Dementia or Alzheimers. This is a comfortable, welcoming, covenant space to gather in the presence of God. You don’t need to pray out loud unless you want to – you can simply participate by being present. We plan to meet every Monday for one hour – there is no commitment – come when you can or feel called to be there. Everyone is invited. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Medina, Margueritta Estes or Jackie Bull.
Adult Sunday School led by Pastor Kathleen, will be studying The Disciple’s Path. We’ll meet in Room 24. Each session includes a short DVD presentation followed by time for reflection and open conversation. All adults are welcome!
We thank you for your donations to our food pantry. In spite of the cold temperatures, 103 families came to pick up their food this past Tuesday. The shelves are bare of canned vegetables which we hope you will be able to help us provide this month. Thank you as always for your continued generosity!
