Our local food pantry, West Millcreek Food Pantry, wants to thank you for your generosity these two Sundays. Our pantry helps people who live between Peninsula Drive, west to Milfair Road and from the Lake to West 38 th Street. We currently serve 140 of our neighbors. Our only support is from the churches in our area, any food or monetary donations that our pantry receives. That is why we are so grateful for your support today and every day. Presently we are asking for canned sweet potatoes and gravy for our Thanksgiving distribution

 We are excited to announce that Lakewood Preschool was nominated for “Best Preschool in Erie” in the Erie Reader. We would appreciate your support in voting for our Preschool. All women of Lakewood, young and older, are invited to join together for Advent by Candlelight on Tuesday, December 2, at 6 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  We will be using the program that was created by Pam Anthony called “An Evening Under the Chrismon Tree.”  You are welcome to invite friends to join us in Christian fellowship and fun to enjoy homemade desserts and learn about the history of the Chrismon Tree.  Please RSVP in the narthex or by calling or texting Debbie Bisbee at 814-897-6785.

Lakewood United Methodist Church has committed to providing volunteers for the overflow shelter during the evening of Monday December 1, 2025. If you are interested in signing up to help, there will be a sign-up sheet in the narthex. 10-12 volunteers are needed from 6:30-11:00p.m. Volunteers may not need to stay the entire time, but people are needed to help check in guests, serve food and coffee, distribute clothing, and monitor showers. Lakewood will also be collecting clothing items for distribution at the overflow shelter. Items for donation include new underwear (boxer briefs for the men), socks (moisture wicking please), emergency thermal blankets (must be able to handle below 30 degree
temps), sweatpants, t-shirts, and sweatshirts. If you are interested in donating any of these items, there is a collection box in the narthex or inside the main door to the church. Please feel free to contact Chris Paul if you have any additional questions or want to help.

On Saturday November 29 th from 9-11 a.m. we will decorate the church as we prepare for the Advent season. Many hands make light work, and it’s always more fun together. We hope you can join us!

As we approach the Advent season which begins November 30th volunteers are needed to help with short readings and lighting the candles on the Advent wreath. This is a wonderful way to participate in our Advent traditions. Lay leaders are also needed. Please contact Kathy Fisher at 814-434-0433.

The Wednesday morning Bible study is starting a new study called “NOT A SILENT NIGHT, Mary Looks Back to Bethlehem”. This is written by Adam Hamilton and it looks at Jesus from Mary’s point of view. This friendly group always welcomes new faces at 9:30 a.m. in the library every Wednesday.
