Are you a recent graduate or know someone who is?  If you are a member of Lakewood Church and plan to continue your education, academic or technical trades training, we encourage you to apply for a Lakewood UMC Scholarship.  Applications are in the back of the Sanctuary.  Return completed applications to the Church Office no later than September 30.  Applications will be reviewed by the Trustees at their September meeting.

Many of the children in our food pantry area are eligible for free or reduced fee breakfast and lunch at school so when they get home they want cereal or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich as a snack. Please check your store to donate items on sale that a child would like. A nice choice may be canned fruit or an item the whole family might enjoy Thank you for remembering those less fortunate.

Please join us on Monday September 21st from 6:00-7:00 in the Lakewood Prayer Chapel (off the sanctuary). This prayer hour has a new format which will include a weekly focus and special prayer intention. This is a comfortable, welcoming, covenant space to gather in the presence of God. You don’t need to pray out loud unless you want to – you can simply participate by being present. We plan to meet every Monday for one hour – there is no commitment – come when you can or feel called to be there. Everyone is invited.

There will be a Pancake Breakfast on October 4th in Fellowship Hall. On October 24th we will meet at the 12th Street Pub at 7:00 p.m. for wings and football and in conjunction with election day, we will have a Bake Sale on November 3rd. More information to follow.

Annual Church Conference is Sunday September 27th at 3 p.m. with D.S.Rev.Scott Gallagher. All church officers should attend, all active members are encouraged to attend
