Are you a recent graduate or know someone who is? If you are a member of Lakewood Church and plan to continue your education, academic or technical trades training, we encourage you to apply for a Lakewood UMC Scholarship. Applications are in the back of the Sanctuary. Return completed applications to the Church Office no later than September 30. Applications will be reviewed by the Trustees at their September meeting.
Every July our clients must sign up again in order to continue receiving food from our pantry, it verifies that they live in our area and are income eligible. The items donated by the churches in our pantry area are a blessing. All other food distributed is purchased from Second Harvest with money donated to our pantry. Won’t you please help by donating soup, canned fruit or vegetables, or something on sale where you shop? It will be greatly appreciated.

Please join us on Monday September 14th from 6:00-7:00 in the Lakewood Prayer Chapel (off the sanctuary). This prayer hour has a new format which will include a weekly focus and special prayer intention. This is a comfortable, welcoming, covenant space to gather in the presence of God. You don’t need to pray out loud unless you want to – you can simply participate by being present. We plan to meet every Monday for one hour – there is no commitment – come when you can or feel called to be there. Everyone is invited.

Erie City Mission volunteers needed on Sunday September 20 at 9:15 a.m. Lakewood volunteers will be helping with preparing and serving a meal and providing fellowship at the Erie City Mission, 1023 French. If you are interested in being a part of this important ministry activity, there is a sign-up sheet in the narthex. Volunteers will meet about 9:15 a.m.at the City Mission (entrance behind the Building). Volunteers are usually done by 12:30 or 1:00.
Annual Church Conference is Sunday September 27th at 3 p.m. with D.S.Rev.Scott Gallagher. All church officers should attend, all active members are encouraged to attend
Men’s group will get back to meeting but will switch to Tuesdays. The first meeting will be Tuesday September 8th in the church library.
Come sing with us! Choir rehearsals will begin on Thursday September 10th from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
United Woman of Faith will be meeting on Saturday September 12th at 10 a.m. in the church library. We will be discussing plans for the rest of the year. Any interested women are encouraged to attend
