Welcome to Lakewood

plan your visit Here

If you are looking for a home church or visiting the Erie area, you will love Lakewood UMC!

Where are you located?

We are located in Erie, PA at the corner of West 10th Street and Chelsea Ave.  There are glass doors on both Chelsea and West 10th - please feel free to enter from either!

Where can I park?

We know finding parking at a new place can be stressful, which is why Lakewood has designated visitor parking spots on West 10th Street.  Please feel free to park there.  There is additional parking available across the street near Lakewood Park, as well as on Chelsea Ave, and in our northern parking lot located behind the church building.

What if I need a little extra help?

Lakewood United Methodist Church is ADA accessible - simply enter through the glass doors on Chelsea Ave underneath the portico.  Transportation is also available upon request.

What do I wear?

Lakewood United Methodist Church is a warm and welcoming congregation.  You will see that our members are very accepting and nonjudgmental.  There is no dress code to attend our worship services; please come as you are!

Is there something for my small children?

Our nursery is open every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until noon.  Parents, please feel free to attend our 9:30 a.m. worship service, or even our 10:45 a.m. adult Sunday school class knowing that your little ones are safe and sound in our nursery.  Do you prefer to keep your kids with you? No problem! We have busy bags available to help keep your children entertained while in the sanctuary.

I'm not Methodist. Should I take Communion?

United Methodists believe in an open Communion table.  This means that you do not have to be a United Methodist to partake in the sacrament.   In fact, you don't even have to be baptized!  Any and all persons who seek God's grace are welcome to eat at our table.

Do I have to give money to attend?

We  do not charge people to attend our church, but we do believe giving is an act of worship.  Lakewood has a variety of diverse ministries doing great things, and these ministries could benefit from your financial gift.

Our Mission Statement: We will strengthen opportunities for spiritual growth that fosters genuine relationships by serving our church and community.
